Discover Shungite: Properties and Benefits Explained

Shungite is one of the world’s most fascinating secrets.

This mysterious, ancient stone is found almost exclusively in Shunga, a remote village in Karelia, Russia.

While its exact origins remain a geological mystery, this carbon-rich mineral is widely understood to be over two billion years old—dating back to a time before complex life existed on Earth.

For centuries, the profound protective and healing qualities of Shungite have been celebrated, making it a timeless shield for modern well-being.

There are three types of shungite and they are differentiated by the amount of carbon present in them.

Regular Shungite Type I
(Carbon up to 40%)

Deep matte black and highly robust. Its durability makes it easy to carve and polish into geometric shapes like pyramids, spheres, beads, and intricate handmade jewellery.

Petrovsky Shungite Type II
(Carbon up to 75%)

A rare, semi-shiny transitional stone. It offers powerful purification properties but is strong enough to be shaped into wearable bracelets and necklaces. Historically, Tsar Peter the Great famously used it to purify his army's drinking water and heal wounds.

Elite Shungite Type III
(Up to 98% Carbon)

The rarest, flagship grade. Recognizable by its silvery, metallic luster, it holds the most potent energetic and purification properties. Because it is highly fragile, it cannot be carved or polished, meaning it is sold exclusively in its unique, raw nugget form.
